AGENDA TITLE: Discussion of Council Appointee Compensation and Benefits— City Clerk
(Government Code §54957)

RECOMMENDED ACTION: That the City Council consider compensation and benefits for
Council Appointee, namely City Clerk.
BACKGROUND INFORMATION: The City Council has undertaken its evaluation of Council
Appointees (City Manager and City Clerk) pursuant to the Council
Appointees Evaluations Policy, as adopted by Resolution
No. 2002-224 on November 6, 2002. The next step in this process
is for the City Council Members to meet as a body to: 1) discuss the performance evaluation form
summaries; 2) review wage and benefit comparisons; and 3) discuss appropriate action.
Any adjustment to compensation or benefits provided to Council Appointees should be acted upon by
motion of the Council. Any motions made would be memorialized in resolution form for tracking
purposes.

RESOLUTION NO. 2004-150
A RESOLUTION OF THE LODI CITY COUNCIL
APPROVING CERTAIN SALARY AND BENEFITS FOR
CITY CLERK (UNREPRESENTED)
WHEREAS, it is the policy of the City Council to provide fair and 'equitable
compensation to employees for their services consistent with their qualifications,
responsibilities, and performance; and
WHEREAS, the City Council conducted its evaluation of Council Appointees
(City Clerk) pursuant to the Council Appointees Evaluations Policy, as adopted by
Resolution No. 2002-224 on November 6, 2002. Additionally, City Council Members met
as a body to: 1) discuss the performance evaluation form summaries; 2) review wage
and benefit comparisons; and 3) discuss appropriate action.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the Lodi City Council that the
following salary and benefit changes for the City Clerk (unrepresented) are hereby
approved, all of which are effective this pay period (beginning July 19, 2004):
Increase deferred compensation City match from 2% to 3%;
2. Provide cost of living adjustment increase of 3%; and
3. Approve salary increase of 5%.
