AGENDA TITLE: Post for Vacancy on the Lodi Improvement Committee and Expiring Terms on the
Library Board of Trustees, Lodi Arts Commission, and Planning Commission
MEETING DATE: April 20, 2005

RECOMMENDED ACTION: That Council, by motion action, direct the City Clerk to post for one
vacancy on the Lodi Improvement Committee and the expiring
terms on the Library Board of Trustees, Lodi Arts Commission, and
Planning Commission.
BACKGROUND INFORMATION: The City Clerk's Office received notification of the resignation of
Lodi Improvement Committee Member, Martin Makapagal (filed).
Additionally, several terms are due to expire on the Library Board of
Trustees, Lodi Arts Commission, and Planning Commission. It is,
therefore, recommended that the City Council direct the City Clerk
to post for the vacancy and expiring terms below.
Lodi Improvement Committee
Martin Makapagal Term to expire March 1,2007
Library Board of Trustees
Juan Villarreal Term to expire June 30,2005
Lodi Arts Commission
Judy Bader Term to expire July 1, 2005
John Callahan Term to expire July 1, 2005

Tim Mattheis Term to expire June 30,2005
David Phillips Term to expire June 30,2005
State statute requires that the City Clerk post for vacancies to allow citizens interested in serting to
submit an application. The City Council is requested to direct the City Clerk to make the necessary
postings.

consists of 5 members.

assist and advise on property maintenance, neighborhood
improvement, and historical preservation issues; design
and implement programs to reduce blight and foster com-
munity pride; and work to reduce crime, drugs, and blight
in coordinating civil actions against nuisance property
owners.

The City of Lodi is currently accepting applications for
the Planning Commission, charged with reviewing,
changes to the City's General Plan & zoning regulations to
ensure development in Lodi is of the highest quality; and
to provide recommendations to Council on such matters
dealing with community development.
The Planning Commission meets at 7:00 p.m. on the
2nd & 4th Wednesdays of each month at the Carnegie
Forum, and consists. of 7 members. Applications are now
being accepted to fill two •2) vacancies for 4 -year terms
due to expire June 30,2009.
Applications may be obtained from 'the City Clerk's
office at 221 W. Pine St., 2nd floor. For more infor-
