HomeMy WebLinkAboutAgenda Report - February 15, 2005 B-02 SMAGENDA ITEM B070 CITY OF LODI COUNCIL COMMUNICATION TM AGENDA TITLE: Proposed City Council Team Building Exercise MEETING DATE: PREPARED BY: February 15,2005 City Manager RECOMMENDEDACTION: Confirm the date and the approach to a City Council team building exercise. BACKGROUND INFORMATION: On February 1, 2005, at the Council's Shirtsleeve session, Mayor Pro Tempore Hitchcock restated her interest in the City Council participating in a team building session. Mayor John Beckman indicated that Pastor Dale Edwards had offered and was available to facilitate such an exercise. Subsequently, staff contacted Pastor Edwards to confirm his availability and to discuss his approach to a team building event. Pastor Edwards envisions that the team building will be fun and interactive with the focus on five questions: 1) What makes for a great team? 2) How do we work within a team? 3) What single event in my past changed my life permanently for the better or worse? 4) What do I need to know about myself within the team? 5) What will this require of me? The outline for Pastor Edwards'session is attached. The Team Building session as proposed would occur Saturday, March 5, 2005 from 8:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. at the Carnegie Forum. Pursuant to the California Government Code, the team building session must be an open noticed Special Meeting. The City Clerk has confirmed that all Council Members are available for this date and time. It is assumed that the three Council appointees, City Manager, City Attorney, and City Clerk, will participate. The Council could consider alternative approaches; however, it is assumed that any other facilitator would charge for his/her services.
