Locust Street to Hobbs Construction, of Fresno ($147,070) MEETING DATE: January 19, 2005 PREPARED BY: Parks and Recreation Director RECOMNAENDED ACTION: That the City Council adopt a resolution awarding the contract for Hale Park playground improvements, 209 E. Locust Street to Hobbs Construction, of Fresno ($147,070). BACKGROUND INFORMATION: This project will remove the existing playground equipment, fear ground cover material in the Hale Park Playground area and replace them with new handicap accessible play equipment and new rubberized playground surfacing material. All work will be constructed within the existing play area. Plans and specifications for this project were approved on August 18, 2004. There was an extended review time on this project because the original submittals from Hobbs Construction did not meet the City's specifications. The subcontractor for the playground surfacing material and the playground equipment was not licensed by the State of Cali%mia and, in addition, the playground equipment submittal was unacceptable. Hobbs Construction has obtained new subcontractors and provided the City with licensed subcontractors who will be furnishing different material and equipment that is more acceptable to the Parks and Recreation Department. Hobbs Construction's bid proposal price has remained unchanged.
