HomeMy WebLinkAboutAgenda Report - May 21, 2003 E-04MEETING DATE: May 21, 2003 PREPARED Y: Public Works Director RECOMMENDED ACTION: That the City Council approve the plans and specifications for the above project and authorize advertising for bids. BACKGROUND iNFORMATION: This project includes installing a 0.15 -foot thick pavement overlay consisting of approximately 3,080 tons of asphalt concrete and 24,670 square yards of pavement reinforcement fabric; installing concrete wheelchair ramps; pavement grinding; pavement striping; and other incidental and related work, all as shown on the plans and specifications for the above project. During construction operations, Lodi Avenue will be closed for two one -day paving sessions. During one paving session, the Contractorwill pave from UPRR to Hutchins Street, during the other paving session, horn Hutchins Street to Ham Lane. To minimize the impact to adjacent businesses, Staff is structuring the bid package to obtain alternate bias for the cost of performing paving operations and road closures during two consecutive Sundays, instead of weekdays. This information will be presented along with a recommendation to Council when the project is awarded. City crews have been performing crack sealing and base repairs in preparation for this project The plans and specifications are on file in the Public Works Department. FUNDING: The money for this project will becoming from the Measure K and Street Maintenance Funds. A request for contract award and appropriation of funds will be made at the July 16, 2003, Council meeting.
