Electric Utility Director
RECOMMENDED ACTION, That the City Council approve the specifications and authorize
advertisement for bids for twenty 3 -prase sectionalizing g modol
enclosures.
BACKGROUND INFORMATION, The Engineering Division of the Electric Utility. Department is preparing
or has prepared work orders for installation of electrical service ire
a number of new residential subdivisions during the coming year.
Those work orders call for 18 of these module ule enclosures.
ectionali ing enclosures provide a safe means for "sectionalizing", or dividing, an underground electrical
distribution system within a subdivision into smaller segments which can be isolated for maintenance or
repair. Connection prints, or taps, within the enclosure provide the means for distribution of power to the
various sections of the neighborhood, so that maintenance on one section of the system does not affect
distribution of power to other sections of the neighborhood.
Some of the subdivisions. planned for service installation are Century meadows #1 Units 2 and 3, Century
Meadows #2 Unit 4, Meadows #3 Unit 4, Almondwood Estates, Legacy Estates, and Woodhaven #3, The
balance of the carder will be placed into inventory for system upgrades or replacements.
The Department has specified. enclosures produced by Malton Equipment Company of Minnesota for use in
the Lodi system. Bids are expected from Graybar Electric of Sacramento, and from Southwest Power, Inc., of
Benicia.
