Stephens Construction Company of Lodi, CA ($192,745)> and appropriate $212,020 for entire project MEETING BATE: February 5, 2003 PREPARED Parks and recreation Director RECOMMENDED ACTION: That the City Council adopt a resolution awarding the contract for the above project to A.M. Stephens Construction Company of Lodi in the amount of ;192,746.00; and appropriate funds in accordance with the recommendation shown below. BACKGROUND INFORMATION- In June of 2001, Phase I of the Lodi Lake Bicycle/Pedestrian Corridor was completed. Prior to the completion of the ,project, staff had begun working on Construction documents for Phase IL Phase II is a continuation of the asphalt pathway meandering along the waters edge and mature trees of the west rank, north towards the Woodbridge Cemetery, over the west bank into the undeveloped 13 acre parcel out towards Lower Sacramento Road in Woodbridge. Plans and specifications and authorization of bids had been approved by the City Council at their regular meeting on September 19, 2001. At that time the project was being funded by the following sources; $140,000.00 from Measure K funds: $163,000.00 from Transportation Enhancement funds; $00,000.00 from Parks and Recreation Capital funds; and $30,000.00 from the Electric utility Street Lighting Program. The project went out to bid February 2, 2002, with bid opening date scheduled for March 27, 2002. While the project was out to bid the Transportation Enhancement funds were pulled from the project and not replaced. Therefore the bid process was cancelled dere to lack of project funds until. we could obtain other dollars to finance the construction. Funding for the project was established once again and brought forward to Council at the November 6, 2002, meeting. City Council approved plans and specifications and authorized advertisement for bids forPhase It at their regular meeting on November 6, 2002, Be advised that currently we are waiting for union Pacific Railroad to respond to the project layout ofthe trail as it exits the. 13 acre parcel to Lower Sacramento Road. This portion of the project may be eliminated due to the trailb close proximity to the railroad tracks. Turner Road, described in the specifications therefore approved by the City Council on November 6, 2002; and WHEREAS, said bids have been compared, checked, and tabulated and a report thereof filed with the City Manager as follows: X M. Turner Road, be made to the low bidder, A. M. Stephens Construction Co,, Inc., of Lodi, California. NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the Lodi City Council that the award of the bid for the Lodi Lake Handicap -Accessible Pedestrian/Bi cycle Corridor Project (Phase 11), 1101 W. Turner Road, be made to the low bidder, A. M. Stephens Construction Co., Inc., of Lodi, California, in the amount of $192,745,00; and BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, that funds in the amount of $212,020.00 be appropriated as follows. FUNDING-.
