Tree Operations Supervisor Ray Fye

BACKGROUND INFORMATION The International Society nfArburco|Lupo(IOA}isascientific and educational
organization devoted iothe dissemination ofinformation inthe care and
preservation ofshade and ornamental trees. The purpose nfthe ISA
Certification Program is to improve the level of knowledge and standard of
practice within the tree care profession. It is designed to assist the public in identifying those professionals in
arboriculture who have demonstrated, through a professionally -developed education program and examination, a
thorough knowledge nftree care practices.
It is our pleasure to announce that the City of Lodi Public Works Department's Street Division now has a Certified
Arbohutonstaff. On November 23, 2002, Tree Operations Supervisor Ray Eye successfully demonstrated his
professional competency and met the requirements set forth by the International Society of Arboriculture (ISA) to
achieve his certification.

residents, business owners, and visitors @like with a community full of beauty and pride, as well as benefits vital to
'the growth and life of the City. Trees within Lodi reduce energy costs for local residents as they are energy efficient
and provide shade and cooling for those all too familiar with Valley summers. Lodi'sair and water quality are
affected hyour trees inthat they provide cleaner air and can be used as a filtering system for stormwater runoff (a
best management practice [BMP] suggested by the State as part of the upcoming Stormwater Management
Program).
Over the past year, Ray has assisted in a number of projects improving the appearance of the City by preserving,
removing, and planting trees all around Lodi. His influence can baseen onthe South Hutchins Street beautification
project, Ray's determined efforts have contributed toward the City of Lodi being recognized as an "All American
Tree City' by Tree City USA We are proud to announce his certification and congratulate him on his success.
