BACKGROUND INFORMATION: At the November 5, 2003 Regular City Council meeting, Electric Utility Staff presented material specifications for the fiber optic system. In addition, staff requested appropriating funds to begin engineering, training and construction work associated with this project, which the City Council approved. Staff is requesting the City Council approve the purchase of 72,500 feet of ADSS fiber optic cable, pole line hardware, fiber optic test and splicing equipment and GE OC -3 JungleMUX Multiplexer equipment and award to the lower bidders, as described below. Vallow Electric Utility Director ANVIAMSIIst cc: City Attorney Purctosing Officer 414 WHEREAS, in answer to notice daily published in accordance with law and the order of this City Council, sealed bids were received and publicly opened on November 26, 2003, at 11:00 an. for the purchase of 72,500 feet of ADSS fiber optic cable, pole lime hardware, fiber optic test and splicing equipment and CE CC -3 JungleMUX Multiplexer equipment for the Electric Utility Department, described in the specifications therefore approved by the City Council an November 5, 2003; and WHEREAS., the City Manager recommends the award of the bid for 72,500 feet of ADSS fiber optic cable, pole fine hardware, fiber optic test and splicing equipment; and GE OC -3 JungleMUX Multiplexer equlprhent for the Electric Utility Department be made to the bidders as shown on the attached marked Exhibit A. NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the Lodi City Council that the award of the bids for the purchaseof 72,500 feet of ADSS fiber optic cable, pule line hardware, fiber optic test and splicing equipment; and GE OC -3 JungleMUX Multiplexer equipment for the Electric Utility Department be and the same is hereby awarded to the bidders listed on Exhibit A; and BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that funds in the amount of $305,052.42 be appropriated from the 2003-05 Financial Plan and Budget for this project from Account No. 1.61685.
