AGENDA TITLE: Acceptance of Funds From the State Citizens Option for Public Safety (COPS),
Grant and Adoption of Resolution Accepting State Supplemental Law Enforcement
Services Fund of $100,000
MEETING DATE: November 19, 2003
RECOMMENDED ACTION: That the City Council adopt a resolution accepting $100,000 from the
State Citizens Option for Public Safety (COPS) Grant offered through
AB 1584 State Supplemental Law Enforcement Services Fund,
BACKGROUND INFORMATION: For the last seven (7) years, the City of Lodi Police Department has
received funds from the Citizens Option for Public Safety (COPS);
this fiscal year (2003 — 2004), will be our eighth (8), year of
participation. In the past, these funds have been used to support
front line needs and specialized equipment purchases, of the Police Department, that were not covered by
the Police Department's Operating Budget. The Police Department plans on continuing the use of these
funds for the purchase of safety and technology equipment. These funds have an expenditure date of two
(2) years after receipt.
FUNDING: Total grant of $100,000. No matching funds are required by this grant,
