RECOMMENDED ACTION: That the City Council authorize the Lodi Police Department to purch ase
technical equipment that would enhance hardware and software tho t is being
used by law enforcement personnel at the Lodi. Police Department. �
BACKGROUND INFORMATION: On August 18, 2003 the Lodi Police Department applied for..and
received a Grant from the Local Law Enforcement Block Grant
Program Funds in the amount of $77,974 which includes matching
funds of $7,179. The source of the matching funds will be taken from the 2003/2004 Lodi Police
Department Budget. When the funds are received, they will be placed in a special revenue fund, pending
dispersal.
Cin September 10, 2003 an Advisory Board convened and reviewed the proposal for the disbursement of
those funds. The proposal indicated that the funds would be used for software acquisition, and technology
updates on equipment that is currently being used by Lodi Police Department.
The Advisory Board consisted of the following persons:
Dr. Richard Ferrera, Superintendent, Lodi Unified School District
Honorable David Warner, Judge, San Joaquin County Superior Court
Mr. Russell Humphrey, Deputy District Attorney, San Joaquin County
District Attorney's Office
Mr. Richard Jones, President, Lodi Boys and Girls Club
Chief Jerry Adams, Lodi Police Department
Captain David Main, Lodi Police Department
Captain Larry Manetti, Lodi Police Department
Betsy Peterson, Management Analyst, Lodi Police Department
The Advisory Board agreed with the proposal and made no other recommendations.
FUNDING-, Total Grant is $77,794, including matching City Funds in the amount of $7,179, which will
come from current City budget.

WHEREAS, the.Lodi City Council authOrized the Lodi Police Department to accept Local
Law Enforcement Block `Grant Program Funds in the amount of $77;794.00 arta provide

WHEREAS, the Proposal for the disbursement of the funds includes software acquisition
and technology updates on equipment that is currently being used by the Lodi Police
Department; and
WHEREAS, on September 10, 2003, an Advisory Board convened and.. reviewed: the
proposal for the disbursement of these funds and has agreed with the proposal as presented
and made no ether recommendations.
NOW, THEREFORE, RE 1T RESOLVED, that the Lodi City Council hereby.. authorizes.
the Lodi Police Department tie purchase software and technology updates on equipment that is
currently being used by the Lodi Police Department in the amount of.$77,794.00, which includes.
matching funds in the amount of $7,179.00 from the current City budget.
