BACKGROUND INFORMATION-. in the past, the City Council has authorized the expenditures of annual department Capital Improvement ent Fronds to impl ement a central computerized water management system (Maxicom) for the City parks systema. To date, we have installed Maxicom hardware at Legion, Van Buskirk, Peterson, Armory, Softball Complex, Blakely, Zupo, Lawrence, Grape Bowl, Katzakian and three locations at Lodi Lake Park. Currently, these systems are being used as a stand alone controller and to date have not been put can -line to use the equipment the way it was intended to be used. Staff has extensively researched options on how we best can bring existing Maxicom hardware.on line. Staff has contacted the current Rainbird District representative and a number of Maxicom end users asking for suggestions. Staff has determined that Carson Landscape Industries of Sacramento, California can provide us the services needed to bring Baur twelve sites on-line. Carson Landscape Industries will perform a field water audit for each site along with programming of the Park Division's Maxicom computer, After data has been installed, Carson will test and adjust water schedules to meet the water window period. At the completion of all testing, Carson will provide training to the irrigation staff to operate the Maxicom software. Total coast for the twelve sites and staff trining is $38,170, inclusively. This cost also includes servicing and configuration of the weather station located at Peterson Dark. The Parks and recreation Commission concurred with staff's recommendation at their August , 2003, meeting.
