Management software from The Active Network, Inc, of Sacramento to be used. in daily operations by the Parks and Recreation Department. BACKGROUND INFORMATIONl In 1997, the Parks and Recreation Department purchased RecWar.e Pro, an automated recreation management software product, that is used sed for activity registration, child care program management, and facility management. This product is based on a module concept with each module acting as a separate product. The modules have presented several time-consuming challbriges to staff in the.:..areas of accounting, multi -tasking (only one module open at a time), data collection, and tracking of certain transacti ons. The makers of RecWare Pro have introduced a new line of recreation management software called Safari which utilizes much newer technologies than the previous product, Included in the Safari product is fully integrated components (activity registration and facility reservation), customer account management, financial tracking system, data reporting engine, and a point of sale system. Also included in the package is an internet registration component should the department choose to offer online options for customers. Some of the benefits to upgrading the software are improved customer service, improved accounting and daily close procedures, additio'nal data coliection options, improved reporting capabilities and ease of use by staff. Included in the purchase price is staff training, the transfer of current data in RecWare Pro to Safari, and one year of maintenance that includes product updates and unlimited technical support.
