Public Works Director RECOMMENDED ACTION: That the City Council approve the plans and specifications for the above authorize advertising for bids, and adopt a resolution authorizing the City Manager toaward nrreject the contract uptu$30O,00Oand appropriate funds in accordance with the recommendation shown below. BACKGROUND INFORMATION: This project will solicit bids for the development of the storm drainage portion of [)aBenedottiPerk The City has onagreement with StmnteoConsulting 10 provide both the rough grading plan for the park, axwell anthe park improvements. This first phase of the park developmeni consists of the excavation, rough grading and export of material from the De8enedettiPark site. Approximately 324.000cubic yards pfdirt must heexcavated with approximately 234/00 cubic yards ufthat excavated material being expn�edoff the site. The excavation/grading ofthis park vviU ' vide storm drainage detention storage for the area north ofHarney Lane,bounded bLower Sacramento Rd on' the west and the Woodbridge Irrigation Canal nnthe east and north. Zone 1 will excavate 'the southerly portion of the park and provide for the majority of the storm drainage stor age. area, Zone 2 will excavate more material and regrade the existing temporary basin so that it can be expandedbm accommodate future soccer fields/baseball fields. Zone 2will also provide rough grading for one ofthe three premiere baseball diamonds. (See Exhibit Afor the layouts oYZone 1and Zone 2,) Grading for the other two premiere baseball diamonds will be included in the construction of the park improvements, In order to reduce the excavation costs, this rough grading contractor is being given two years (m complete the project, The intent is to have the contractor excavate the basin as the need for dirt in the area arises so that the contractor won't have to stockpile and double-hmndim0he dirt. This would very likely result in our being ub|e.tnget the excavation and grading done u(little ornocost. The price that the dirt might sell for depends mnovariety nf factors - quality, quantity, distance from source to project site and related costs for excavation such as dust control. NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the Lodi City Council does hereby approve the plans and specifications and authorize advertisement for bids for the DeBenedetti Park/ G -Basin Rough Grading Project; and BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Lodi City Council hereby authorizes the City Manager to award or reject the contract up to $300,000.00; and BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that funds in the amount of $300,000.00 be appropriated from the Storm Drainage Impact Mitigation Fee Fund for this project.
