And Commission Members

RECOMMENDED ACTION: That Council discuss and take appropriate action regarding residency
requirement for City board and commission members.
BACKGROUND INFORMATION: This item appears on the agenda as requested by Mayor Hitchcock.
The City Clerk's Office has distributed a survey to California cities asking how many cities have a
residency requirement for city board and commission members and what those requirements are. Results
of this survey will be compiled and presented to the City Council at the meeting.

Below is a tabulation of the responses from a listserve email survey sent to
California city clerks' offices, which asked whether their city's boards and
commissions had a residency requirement.
