RECOMMENDED ACTION: That the City Council adopt a resolution authorizing the City Manager to
allocate Public Benefit Program funds to extend the Lodi Appliance Rebate
Program.
BACKGROUND INFORMATION: For several years, the C4 of Lodi has provided various rebates to. residential
i commercial customersor the purchase of designated and approved
follows:energy efficient appliances, The Lodi Appliance Rebate Program works as
eligible participants must be City of Lodi Electric utility customers;
the program will be offered until funds are exhausted;
the maximum rebate per customer service address is SU,
rebates include 50 for refrigerators, 50 for manual defrost freers, $100 for front -load
clothes washers, $25 for single -morn air conditioners, and $25 for dishwashers;
➢ the approved, energy efficient appliance(s) must be purchased at erre of the following Lodi
retailers: Andersson Maytag, Ben's Appliance, FILGO of Lodi, Kundert & Bauer, Les'
Appliance, and Rees Appliance.
By installing energy efficient appliances in the home or place of lousiness, customers may reduce energy consumption
by as much as dive percent each month (savings will vary depending upon the number of energy efficient appliances
utilized and frequency of use- i.e.: dishwashers and single -room air conditioners do not run as frequently as
refrigerators or freezers). Since the inception sof the program, over 3,000 Lodi residents have participatedin the Lodi
Appliance Rebate Program,

RESOLUTION NO. 2003-129
A RESOLUTION OF THE LODI CITY COUNCIL AUTHORIZING
THE CITY MANAGER TO PROVIDE FUNDING FOR THE
PUBLIC BENEFITS PROGRAM GRANT — LODI APPLIANCE
REBATE PROGRAM

WHEREAS, the state has mandated that beginning January 1, 1998, the City of Lodi is
obligated to fund various programs through a Public Benefits Charge (PBC) based on an historical
electric revenue requirement; and
WHEREAS, the requirement amounts to approximately $1 million per year that must be
dedicated to qualifying programs such as energy efficiency. A further stipulation is that these efforts
must be done on the customer's side of the meter in order to qualify; and
WHEREAS, the City of Lodi's Public Benefits Program is comprised of four segments or
customer groups: commercial/industrial, residential, community/non-profit, and municipal; and
WHEREAS, for several years, the City of Lodi has provided various rebates to residential and
commercial customers for the purchase of designated and approved Energy efficient appliances. The
Lodi Appliance Rebate Program works as follows:
1) Eligible participants must be City of Lodi Electric Utility customers;
2) The program will be offered until funds are exhausted;
3) The maximum rebate per customer service address is $250.00;
4) Rebates include $50.00 for refrigerators, $50.00 for manual defrost freezers, $100.00
for front -load clothes washers, $25.00 for single -room air conditioners, and $25.00 for
dishwashers; and
5) The approved, energy efficient appliance(s) must be purchased at one of the following
Lodi retailers: Anderson Maytag, Ben's Appliance, FILCO of Lodi, Kundert & Bauer,
Les' Appliance, and Reo's Appliance.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the Lodi City Council hereby authorizes the City
Manager to provide a Public Benefits Program Grant in the amount of $60,000.00 to fund the Lodi
Appliance Rebate Program, specifically designed for Lodi residential and commercial energy users.
