Adams, Chief of Police RECOMMENDED ACTION: That the City Council adopt a resolution authorizing the donation of 46 ballistic vests to the Delta College POST Academy. The vests are no longer warranted and are being replaced through the City's vest replacement agreement with the Police Bargaining Units. BACKGROUND INFORMATION: The City Council has approved and the police department is in the process of replacing ballistic vests for thirty-seven (37) of its sworn officers. Also, there are 9 vests that are held in inventory that have passed the five-year warranty period and can no longer be used by a police officer because they are not guaranteed to stop bullets. The POST Academy cadets do not participate in high-risk activities requiring ballistic vests for their safety. FUNDING: None cc: City Attorney Jerry VAdaA Chief of Police APPROVED: - �- H. NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the Lodi City Council does hereby authorize the donation of 46 ballistic vests to the San Joaquin Delta College POST Peace Officer Academy.
