RECOMMENDED ACTION: That Council, by motion action, direct the City Clerk to post for the
vacancy on the East Side Improvement Committee.
BACKGROUND INFORMATION: The City Clerk's Office received a letter of resignation (filed) from
East Side Improvement Committee member, Rosie Ortiz. It is,
therefore, recommended that the City Council direct the City Clerk
to post for the vacancy below.
East Side Itpratmot Committee
Rosie Ortiz Term to expire March 1, 2005
State statute requires that the City Clerk post for vacancies to allow citizens interested in serving to
submit an application. The City Council is requested to direct the City Clerk to make the necessary
postings.
FUNDING: None required.

On. behalf of the Lodi City Council and the citizens of this community, thank you for your
dedicated service as a member of the East Side Improvement Committee.
As you reflect on your participation, I hope you will feel gratified in knowing you have been a
part of many fine events and accomplishments, and that efforts will continue to be made toward
enriching and improving our community. Thank you so much for sharing your talents with us.
In ending your service with the Commission, it will be necessary for you to complete a Form 700 -
Conflict of Interest Leaving Office Statement no later than 30 days from the date of this letter of
notice {due Monday, March 22, 2004 by 5:00 p.mj The original statement will be retained in
the City Clerk's office or may be filed with Fair Political Practices Commission (FPPC).
Note: You may file a combined "annual statement" and `leaving office statement" by
indicating both on the bottom left corner of the first page of your filing; however you must
adhere to the March 22rd filing deadline. Forms have been enclosed for your convenience.

ANNOUNCEMENT
Four (4) Vacancies on the
East Side improvement
Committee
The City of Lodi is currently accepting applications for
the East Side Improvement Committee (ESIC),
created to assist and advise on property maintenance,
neighborhood improvement, and historical preservation
issues; design and implement programs to reduce blight
and foster community pride; and work to reduce crime,
drugs, and blight in coordinating civil actions against
nuisance property owners.
The ESIC meets at 5:00 p.m. on the 181 Tuesday of
each month at the Adopt -A -Child Building, 100 East
Pine Street, and consists of 9 members, each serving
3 -year terms.
Applications are now being accepted for the ESIC to
fill three (3) vacancies for 3 -year terms which expire on
March 1, 2007, and one (1) vacancy for a 1 -year term
which expires on March 1, 2005.
Applications may be obtained from the City Clerk's
office at 221 West Pine Street, 2nd floor. For more
Information call 333-6702 or access the City's Web
site at www.lodi.gov.
Appointments to the committee will be made by the
Mayor with Council approval.
Note: You must be registered to vote In San Joaquin
County at the time of application. If appointed, you will
be required to complete a Statement of Economic
Interest. This is a volunteer, unpaid position.
