HomeMy WebLinkAboutAgenda Report - December 18, 2002 E-09AGENDA TITLE: Accept Improvements Under Contract for 2001-2002 City -Wide Handicap Ramp Retrofit Project MEETING DATE: December 18, 2002 PREPARED BY: Public Works Director RECOMMENDED ACTION: That the City Council accept the improvements under the "2001-2002 City -Wide Handicap Ramp Retrofit Project" contract. BACKGROUND INFORMATION: The project was awarded to Diede Construction, of Lodi, on January 16, 2002, in the amount of $158,592.00. The contract has been completed in substantial conformance with the plans and specifications approved by the City Council. This project provided the City with a unit -price -based bid for removing and replacing curb, gutter, and sidewalk at various intersections throughout the City and installing handicap ramps to meet the requirements of the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA). This project was funded by Community Development Block Grant (CDBG) Funds, and purchase orders were issued during the year using the unit -price bids to utilize the full CDBG allocation. $237,482.00 was allocated from CDBG funds to pay for the installation of these handicap ramps. Additional work at the corners increased the total cost of the project to $263,567.85. Staff is recommending that street funds be used to cover the balance of the project which was paid by CDBG funds. Following acceptance by the City Council, the City Engineer will file a Notice of Completion with the County Recorder's office.
