AGENDA TITLE: Plans and Specifications and Advertisement for Bids for
Anderson Avenue Street Improvements, 150' N/Swain Drive to
200' N/Swain Drive
MEETING DATE: June 2, 1993

RECOMMENDED ACTION: That the City Council approve the plans and specifications for
the above project and authorize advertising for bids.
BACKGROUND INFORMATION: The Public Works Department has received numerous
complaints on Anderson Avenue about people dumping garbage
and using the undeveloped street area as an access to the
Southern Pacific Railroad (SPRR) right of way.
This project will complete the curb, gutter and sidewalk installation on
Anderson Avenue and pave the cul-de-sac. A chain link fence will also be installed
behind the sidewalk, along the SPRR right of way. The SPRR has been working with
the City on this project and may be sharing in the cost of the chain link fencing.
The street improvements and the fencing will help control both the trash dumping and
the unwanted access problem.
It is recommended tliat money from the Miscellaneous Street Improvements Account be
used for this project. The Miscellaneous Street Improvements Account has a balance
of $59,813.35 and the project estimate for Anderson Avenue is $50,000.00.
