CITY OF LODI COUNCIL COMMUNICATION
AGENDA TITLE: Funding For Police "Partners" Volunteer Program
MEETING•DATE: December 1, 1993
PREPARED BY: Police Chief
RECOMMENDED ACTION: That the City Council approve $5,000 "seed"
Money be allocated to Lodi Police
Department to purchase needed supplies and
equ-pment for the "Partners" Volunteer
Program.
(Please refer to the attached list of anticipated expenses for
this program.)
BACKGROUND INFORMATION: The Lodi Police Department's first
Volunteer Police Academy began on
Monday, November 29, 1993 with a class
of 17 participants.
It is the goal of the Police Department to be able to fund this
program through contributions from the community, but funds are
needed to get the program initiated. Because this is a new
program, we know there will be unanticipated expenses and it
will take time to develop accurate budgeting.
The Council should be aware that there may be a future request
for additional `unds until this program can become totally
self-sufficient.
FUNDING: $5,000 (Contingent Fund)
