AGENDA TITLE: Contract Change Order - Asphalt Pavement Overlays, Tokay Street,
Church Street to Fairmont Avenue, and Houston Lane, Pine Street to
Victor Road

BACKGROUND INFORMATION: This information is being given to the City Council
in accordance with the Contract Change Order policy
approved by Resolution 85-72. One of the requirements of
this policy is that we inform the City Council of all
change orders where the total change orders exceed $25,000.00.
The attached contract change order, approved by the City Manager, was in the amount
of $54,518.80, which is 40% of the contract. Additional money to fund the balance
of this project has been included in the 1993/94 CIP appropriations. The change
order work includes installing handicap ramps on all the curb returns within the
project limits. At the time the bids were put together, the decision was made
to install ramps on only the six curb returns with vertical curbs (Fairmont Avenue/
Tokay Street and Crescent Avenue/Tokay Street). Since Lodi's roll -type curb and
gutter does not meet ADA standards, these returns also needed to be replaced.
Because of the low bids received for the work on this project, the City authorized
the installation of 18 additional handicap ramps together with the required storm
drain modifications in order to comply with ADA.
The contract completion date was extended 10 working days as a result of this change
order.

contractor did riot take advantage of the City as part of the change order process.
