These restrictions will be in effect between the hours of 8 a.m. and 5 p.m.. except for Saturdays, Sundays, and holidays. Background Information: The Parks and Recreation Department has requested that the on -street parking stalls in front of their office on North Stockton Street be converted to 30 -minute parking. Parking In this area Is currently unrestricted. Their concern is the need for short -stay parking available for the public to sign up for programs. reserve City facilities, pick up infoi mation, or for other services the facility offers. Public Works staff has surveyed the availability of parking in the area and found that there is adequate public parking in the surrounding areas for other businesses and facilities In the area. On -street parking in the adjacent area consists of unrestricted on -street parking and a public parking lot, accommodating 23 vehicles, across the street at Hale Paris. Based on the desire of the Parks and Recreation Department to provide convenient parking adjace.. to their facility for the public and that the modification will have a minimal effect on the availability of public parking In the area for other businesses and facilities, staff has no objection to these limited -time parking areas. Enforcement of this restriction will have to be performed on an on-call basis by the Police Department. The Finance Department has indicated that they do not have the staff to enforce this parking limit. In a related item, all but one of the existing parking stalls at this location are of substandard length. Since a higher turnover can be expected with the 30 -minute parking restriction, these stalls will be lengthened to meet current standards. This will result in the elimination of one of the seven existing parking stalls. Funding: Funding for the installation of time -limit parking from the Street Maintenance Account at an approximate cost of $550. Jack L. Ronsko Public Works Director Prepared by Rids S.
