BACKGROUND INFORMATION: The residents and the multi-ethnic communities of Central California will be celebrating International Friendship Da; on February 24, 1991. This year's event is dedicated to Youth - "Our Future". Those attending will share their respective heritage, cultures, foods, arts, and crafts. A proclamation proclaiming February 24, 1991 as International Friendship Day has been prepared and will be received by Raj Ramiya, a representative of the sponsors of this event. RE: INTERNATIONAL FRIENDSHIP DAY '91!- STOCKTON CIVIC AUDITORIUM, SUNDAY, FEBRUARY 24, 1991 rI The residents and the multi-ethnic communities of the Central California Valley are once again G� getting ready to celebrate International Friendship Day (IFD), and this year's event is dedicated to Youth -"Our Future." ,tr✓` Since 1986, this annual event has been held on the last Sunday in February. More than 10,000 persons attend and 100+ groups share their respective heritage, cultures, Bods, arts, and crafts. Each year many new groups participate which further enhances the festivities of the day. As one of the events that respects our rich cultural diversity, the IFD has been helpful in promoting harmony and understanding among the many groups and individuals that exchange ideas. In addition, the IFD helps participants -a teaming to network and in starting new friendships. On behalf of this year's participating groups, may we request the City of Lodi to proclaim Sunday, February 24, 1991 as International Friendship Day. Two of the IFD '91 participating groups will be available to accept the Proclamation and speak for five minutes about their work in the community. Please advise us as soon as possible, of the scheduled day and time.
