COUNCIL COMMUNICATION
AGENDA TITLE: ^ontrat.t Award for Church Street Improvements, Kettleman Lane to
'ine Street
MEETING DATE: gust 4, 1993
PREPARED BY: Public Works Director
RECOMMENDED ACTION: That the City Council adopt the a:cached resolution awarding the
contract for the above project to Robert Burns Construction in
the amount of $204,620.55.
BACKGROUND INFORMATION: This project will install handicap ramps on all the curb
-eturns between Kettleman Lane and Vine Street. An asphalt
overlay will then be placed over the existing street.
Church Street will be closed during the paving portion of this project. The paving
operation should be completed in one day.
An alternate bid was also received for lane line painting, but it was determined
that the City could obtain a better price if this painting was included as part of
the annual striping contract. Staff's recommendation is to award the contract for
the base bid only and not include the alternate bid for the lane line painting.
This project was one of the approved Pavement Rehabilitation Projects in the 1992/93
Streets Capital Improvement Progr=rn.
Plans and specifications were prepared and the City received the following five bids
for this project:
