HomeMy WebLinkAboutAgenda Report - December 4, 2002 E-10AGENDA TITLE: Approve the Improvement Agreement for the Public Improvements for the Harney Lane Sanitary Sewer Lift Station MEETING DATE: December 4, 2002 PREPARED BY: Public Works Director RECOMMENDED ACTION: That the City Council approve the Improvement Agreement for the Public Improvements for the Harney Lane Sanitary Sewer Lift Station. BACKGROUND INFORMATION: The developer of the Century Meadows One, Unit No. 2 residential subdivision, Chris R. Keszler, has presented to the City a development plan and tentative map which have been approved in preparation for submittal of a final map for the subdivision. As a condition of the tentative map for the subdivision, the developer is required to install the Harney Lane sanitary sewer lift station at the future southeast corner of the Mills Avenue/Harney Lane intersection and related sanitary sewer force main and trunk line facilities in Mills Avenue and Harney Lane to provide sanitary sewer service for the subdivision (Exhibit A). Due to the complexity of the lift station project, the developer intends to construct the lift station improvements separately from the balance of the subdivision improvements. The developer will execute a separate improvement agreement for the balance of the subdivision improvements at the time of final map approval. Based on the latest available construction cost estimates, the cost of the lift station improvements is expected to be approximately $1,138,000. As a brief summary, funding for the project will be provided by the developer ($566,000), property owners south of Harney Lane (Fink Group) ($178,000) and, as authorized by Council on November 20, 2002, a short term loan from the City ($394,000). The developer has furnished the City with completed improvement plans, necessary improvement agreement, improvement security, insurance certificates, and fees for the proposed sanitary sewer lift station work.
