HomeMy WebLinkAboutAgenda Report - December 4, 2002 E-04�' 00 CITY OF LODI COUNCIL i i ��FORC� AGENDA TITLE: Adopt a resolution rejecting the apparent low bid as non-responsive, and awarding the purchase of 20,000 feet of #1/0 600 -volt under- ground triplex cable to the second -low bidder, Stephens, McCarthy, Lancaster LLC, Novato, CA ($12,908.45) (EUD) MEETING DATE: December 4, 2002 PREPARED BY: Electric Utility Director RECOMMENDED ACTION: That the City Council adopt a resolution rejecting the apparent low bid as non-responsive, and awarding the purchase of 20,000 feet of #1/0 600 -volt underground triplex cable to the second -low bidder, Stephens, McCarthy, Lancaster LLC, of Novato, California, in the amount of $12,908.45: BACKGROUND INFORMATION: On October 16, 2002, the City Council approved specifications and authorized advertisement for bids for this conductor. The following bids were received, and opened on November 13, 2002. Bids were evaluated on price and conformance with specifications. Nexans bid offers #1/0 triplex that fails to meet EUD specifications for protective packaging, while other bidders meet all requirements. Staff therefore recommends award to the second -low bidder, Stephens, McCarthy, Lancaster LLC of Novato, representing Nehring Electrical Works of DeKalb, Illinois. Some of the residential subdivisions that will require #1/0 triplex are Arcadia Place, Tienda Place, Century Meadows 3 Units 4 and 5, Century Meadows 4 Units 1 and 2, and Almondwood Place. WHEREAS, staff recommends rejecting the apparent low bid from Nexans Energy USA, of Warrenton, VA, for 20,000 feet #1/0 600 -volt XLPE underground triplex cable as being non-responsive, because it fails to meet EUD specifications for protective packaging; and WHEREAS, staff further recommends awarding the bid for 20,000 feet #1/0 600 -volt XLPE underground triplex cable to the second low bidder, Stephens, McCarthy, Lancaster LLC, of Novato, CA, representing Nehring Electrical Works, of DeKalb, Illinois, in the amount of $12,908.45. NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the Lodi City Council that the bid received from Nexans Energy USA, of Warrenton, VA, for 20,000 feet #1/0 600 -volt XLPE underground triplex cable in the amount of $11,958.10 is hereby rejected because it fails to meet the EUD specifications for protective packaging; and BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, that the Lodi City Council hereby awards the bid for the purchase of conductor to the second low bidder, Stephens, McCarthy, Lancaster LLC, of Novato, CA, representing Nehring Electrical Works, of DeKalb, Illinois, in the amount of $12,908.45.
