between the dates of January 29, 1993 through
February 10, 1993.

California Public Utilities Commission (CPUC)
has been received for authority to revise its
gas rates and tariffs effe^.tive September 1,
1993, pursuant to the Commission's Decision No.
92-12-058 for gas transportation service to
both core and noncore customers.

TO: The State of California Attorney General, Department of
General Services, County and City Officials:
Pacific Gas and Electric Company (PG&E) hereby gives
notice that Application No. 93-02-005, filed February 1, 1993
with the California Public Utilities Commission (CPUC),
requests authority to change rates for gas transportation
service. The overall effect of the changes is to provide the
same revenues as previously authorized. If approved, these
rates would be effective Septembei 1, 1993.
SUMMARY OF THE APPLICATION
PG&E has requested a change in its base rates and charges,
both t0 increase and decrease rates for gas transportation
service, in order to implement the Long -Run Marginal Cost
(LRMC) methodology adopted in the Commission's Decision 92-12-
058 for gas transportation service to both core and noncore
customers.

The percentage changes for the core transportation service only will
15 be different. The customers receiving core transportation service
only will see changes to transportation rates of: Residential, 9.0%;
Small Commercial, 11.8%; and Large Commercial, -8.7%.
16 ** Transportation only; procurement rates will not change as a result
of this proceeding.

18 The implementation of LRMC will result in an increase in
19 core average bundled rates from a current rate of $0.547/therm
20 to $0.581/therm, an increase of 6.2 percent. Noncore average
21 transportation rates decrease from $0.0962/therm to
22 $0.073/therm, a decrease of 24.4 perct:nt. Non -LIRA residential
23 bundled rates increase from $0.556/therm to $0.590/therm, an
24 increase of 6.2 percent.
