Lodi Sister City Committee has enjoyed an excellent relationship with Lodi City Council for many years. We have shared experiences with visitors from Lodi, Italy and from Kofu, Japan. Each visit has been planned and carried out with the aid of City staff and City,Council Members. Expenses have been met through the Visitors Fund and our own fund-raising. City Council and staff are studying all departments of city government in order to determine cuts in present funding. Because we have shared the good times, we are prepared to share the bad times. During this evening's meeting...(January 26, 1993)...the Board of Directors of Lodi Sister City Committee passed the following motion: ° That Lodi Sister City Committee join Lodi City Council Members in taking a ten -percent reduction in our annual allotment. This year we received $1,000 for our office supplies, mailing expenses and staff assistance. We would receive $900 for 1993-94 fiscal year. These are trying times that we are all, experiencing. It is not only effecting governmental agencies, it is hurting everybody—actions need to be taken immediately to aid in this budgetary crisis. If the public and private sectors work together, the economy will bounce back, and this joint effort is vital for this recovery.
