AGENDA TITLE: Retention and Repair of Asset Seized Vehicle By
Lodi Police Department

RECOMMENDED ACTION: That the City Council authorize the
Lodi Police Department to retain an
asset seized vehicle 11983 Mercury Marquis,
California License b1LBR989) for use in the
Investigations/Narcotics Division. Furthermore, that the
Council authorize the expenditure of $1,146.46 from the Asset
Seizure Account to make necessary repairs to this vehicle.
BACKGROUND INFORMATION: The above vehicle and cash were
awarded to Lodi Police Department under
asset seizure statutes from a narcotics
trafficking case. (See the attached
Special Allocation Request from Captain Jerry Adams for further
information.)
FUNDING: Transfer of $1,146.46 from the Asset Seizure Account
into the Lodi Police Department Vehicle Account.

Request is made for funds to accomplish the following project which was not inabtxled in the
current budget.
Description of Project Estimated Cost
Asset seizure funds are requested to be transferred into the
LPD Vehicle Account 10-103.01 333 to make the necessary repairs
on a seized vehicle that will be used by the Narcotics unit.
(See attached Memorandum from Captain Jerry Adams.)

SPECIAL ALLOCATION REQUEST
Request to retain a asset seized vehicle from the Serreno
narcotics trafficking case, where narcotics, cash (54,500.) and the
vehicle were seized. The case has been adjudicated and the cash and
vehicle have been awarded to LPD under asset seizure statutes. The
vehicle (1983 Mercury, Marquis Ca. lic. #ILBR989) will replace a
vehicle lost in the narcotics unit, when the Gang unit was formed.
The car has been checked by the Municipal Service Center (MSC) and
needs $1,146.46 in repairs. The remainder of forfeiture ;ash would
be placed in the asset seizure account as required by law.
This is the only vehicle that the narcotics unit has requested
to retain out of the numerous vehicles previously seized.
Approval would consist of: 1) Retention of seized vehicle.
2) Move $1,146.46 from the asset
seizure account to the LPD
vehicle account# 10.103.01-333
