BACKGROUND INFORMATION: As part of the new Police Facility Project and the closing of Pleasant Avenue from Elm Street north to the alley, staff worked with adjacent residents and businesses on how to handle traffic on Pleasant Avenue north of the alley. The portion from the alley north to Locust Street will remain and is currently one-way northbound. Under these conditions, traffic using this portion of Pleasant Avenue will have to use the alleys for circulation. Although traffic volumes are expected to be minimal, construction, garbage, and utility maintenance trucks will need to access these areas. This portion of Pleasant Avenue will be widened by about three feet by removing the existing concrete in parkway strip on the east side. This will allow adequate width for the two-way traffic anticipated and allow parking. However, during construction, there will be some temporary parking prohibitions. The portion of Pleasant Avenue north of Locust Street will remain one-way northbound. FUNDING: Funding (approximately $700) is available in the Street Maintenance Account. J Richard C. Prima, r.
