AGENDA TITLE: Presentation of Waste Management's 2001 America Recycles Day Award to the
City of Lodi
MEETING DATE: June 19, 2002

RECOMMENDED ACTION: At this meeting, a representative from Waste Management will present the
City of Lodi with its 2001 America Recycles Day Award.
BACKGROUND INFORMATION: Waste Management, through Recycle America, handed out its first
annual America Recycles Day Awards. Eleven communities and
organizations across the country were recognized for their
outstanding America Recycles Day events. The applicants were
evaluated on such things as creativity, media coverage, and the number of people who participated and
the amount of additional material recycled as a result of the event. The award amount of $3,000 is to be
used to promote recycling and waste reduction. Attached is a copy of the letter and award received from
Waste Management.

Recycles Day award winners are located. All the ARD winners will be announced in this
