HomeMy WebLinkAboutAgenda Report - May 15, 2002 E-05AGENDA TITLE: Adopt Resolution Rejecting Proposals for the Purchase and Removal of Houses Located on the Site of the Future Police Building MEETING DATE: May 15, 2002 PREPARED BY: Public Works Director RECOMMENDED ACTION: That the City Council adopt a resolution rejecting proposals for the purchase and removal of houses located on the site of the future Police Building. BACKGROUND INFORMATION: In January, City Council authorized the City Manager to issue Request for Proposals (RFP's) for removal of the houses located on the proposed new Police Facility site. RFP's were sent to all house moving contractors listed in the Lodi and Stockton phonebooks and advertised in the Lodi News Sentinel. By 5 p.m. April 26, 2002, the last date proposals could be received by the City, only two proposals and an informal correspondence had been received. Neither of the proposals met the requirements by showing the intended route from the site to the street, the licensed moving contractor, etc., and one proposal was not signed. Neither of the proposals nor the informal letter pay the City for the houses, rather they would charge the City. Staff is recommending that City Council reject the two proposals. Staff proposes that we suggest to the interested parties that they negotiate with the New Police Building bidders and final contractor for their removal once the contract for the New Police Building has been awarded. This will take the City out of any potential scheduling and coordination issues that will likely arise. FUNDING: None at this time.
