AGENDA TITLE: United 4 Youth Grant / One Eighty Teen Center Grand Opening

BACKGROUND INFORMATION: In September 2001, United Way of San Joaquin County
launched a new "United 4 Youth" collaboration grant.
This grant is a collaborative effort that will provide the
tools young people need to be productive citizens,
capable of enhancing their own lives with the positive choices they make. The grant targets youth
ages 12-18. The two-year funding provides $130,000 toward the collaborative that consists of a
501 -c3 -lead organization and at least two other organizations.
The Lodi Area Community Council awarded the "United 4 Youth" grant to the ONEighty teen
center, with the First Baptist Church serving as the lead organization for the grant. They have
several collaborators including the ONEighty Youth Center/Extreme 180 (a youth organization run
by high school students who mentor junior high students), New Hope Community Church (7
Habits of Highly Effective Teens), Youth for Christ (Anger Management workshops) and Lodi
Unified School District (Challenge Days Workshop).
The ONEighty teen center would like to invite the community to their VIP Grand Opening and
Ribbon Cutting Celebration to be held at the new teen center, 17 West Locust Street in Lodi, on
Thursday, February 28, 2002 at 5 to 7 p.m.
