AGENDA TITLE: Bike to Work Week

RECOMMENDED ACTION: That Mayor Pennino present a proclamation proclaiming the period of
May 13 - 17, 2002, as," California Bike to Work Week" and May 14, 2002,
as "Lodi Bike to Work Day" in the City of Lodi.
BACKGROUND INFORMATION:
Mayor Pennino will present a proclamation proclaiming the week
of May 13 - 17, 2002, as "California Bike to Work Week" and
May 14, 2002, as, "Lodi Bike to Work Day" in the City of Lodi.
Steve Mayo, San Joaquin Council of Governments, will be at the
meeting to accept the proclamation.
All the bike commuters will meet on May 14 at the City Hall parking lot where the first 30 riders will be
treated to a free continental breakfast from Cottage Bakery between 6:30 a.m. and 8:30 a.m. Also,
the first 30 bike riders will be given an event T-shirt and donated materials. All riders will be eligible
for the drawing prizes.
FUNDING: Not applicable.

Enclosed is a copy of background information on an item on the City Council
agenda of Wednesday, May 1, 2002. The meeting will be held at 7 p.m. in the
City Council Chamber, Carnegie Forum, 305 West Pine Street. Lodi City Council
will be presenting a proclamation. Please plan to attend to accept the proclamation.
Proclamations are one of the first items on the Council agendas. You should be
able to leave the meeting, if you wish, by 7:30 p.m.
Please be sure to fill out a speaker's card (available at the Carnegie Forum immediately
prior to the start of the meeting) and give it to the City Clerk. If you have any questions
about communicating with the Council, please contact Susan Blackston, City Clerk, at
