BOX 264 LODI, CALIFORNL{ 95241-0264 February 14, 2002 Dear Mayor Pennino and City Council Members, We, as members of the Lodi Historical Society, feel it is timely for us to seriously discuss with you the possibility of the City of Lodi establishing a museum of its own. Our Hill House has done an excellent job of housing memorabilia, but we are feeling the crunch as additional items, many of them large, continue to be donated. In the past several months we have received a grand piano, a washing machine, and a sewing machine. The items donated to the City of Lodi continue to grow as well. Hill House now has on display the model of the original Lodi arch, which belongs to the City of Lodi. The City of Lodi will also be receiving several gramophones from the Stanley Kirst Family. In considering possible locations for this museum, we have developed the following suggestions: the old firehouse on Main Street, Maple Square on Sacramento Street, or the future public safety building on Elm Street. We would be happy to meet with all of you at some future date to discuss this. Although it is not a matter that requires immediate attention, time passes quickly, and the matter should be addressed in the not too distant future. Perhaps all of you would like to visit Hill House some evening prior to a City Council meeting. Sincerely, /C' Beverly Hoag President Leonard Messer Corresponding Secretary HISTORICAL.
