CITY OF LODI COUNCIL COMMUNICATION
AGENDA TITLE: Adopt a Resolution in Support of Continued Enhanced School Public
Safety Programs of the Lodi Police Department
MEETING DATE: February 6, 2002
SUBMITTED BY: Police Chief
RECOMMENDED ACTION: That the City Council adopt a Resolution in support of continued
enhanced school public safety programs of the Lodi Police
Department.
BACKGROUND INFORMATION:The City of Lodi, in Partnership with Lodi Unified School District,
provide public safety programs to schools in order that the
youth in our community are aware of safety issues. These
partnership programs include gang intervention, violence
prevention, home -alone workshops, and other educational services. In addition, the City
Council has supported School Resource Officers (SRO's) through the COPS grants by adding
an officer this fiscal year. The Police Department now has four SRO's on staff that work day-to-
day with the Lodi Unified School District.
In an effort to recognize the City's commitment to these programs and services, it would be
appropriate that the Council adopt the attached Resolution further describing the Lodi Police
Department's work.
FUNDING: Not Applicable.
