ADAMS, CHIEF OF POLICE RECOMMENDED ACTION: That the City Council authorize the City Manager to execute a professional services agreement with George Miers & Associates for space needs, master planning, and schematic design of a new Animal Services Facility, and execute contract change orders; and appropriate funds as shown below. BACKGROUND INFORMATION: The City Council has requested staff begin study of a new Animal Services Facility. A Request for Qualifications (RFQ) was issued for design services for space needs, master planning, and schematic design drawings for a new Animal Services Facility. Of the eleven firms sent RFQ's, George Miers & Associates was the only response received. This phase consists of: 1) Developing a space -needs program for holding, public visitation, and adoption of animals. 2) Working with City staff and the Animal Shelter Task Force to determine possible sites for the new facility. 3) Working with City staff and the Animal Shelter Task Force to develop a schematic design and cost estimate for a new Animal Services Facility, including a site plan. The estimated cost for this work is $77,510. The cost will vary somewhat depending on the outcome of the programming analysis, site selection, and the actual number and detail of the options to be considered and presented to the City Council for approval. The next phase of the work will include final site selection and preparation of design/build documents for the new Animal Services Facility. Dixon Flynn -- City Manager RESOLUTION NO. 2002-31 A RESOLUTION OF THE LODI CITY COUNCIL AUTHORIZING THE CITY MANAGER TO EXECUTE A PROFESSIONAL SERVICES AGREEMENT WITH GEORGE MIERS & ASSOCIATES FOR SPACE NEEDS, MASTER PLANNING, AND SCHEMATIC DESIGN OF A NEW ANIMAL SERVICES FACILITY; AND FURTHER AUTHORIZE THE CITY MANAGER TO EXECUTE CONTRACT CHANGE ORDERS, AND APPROPRIATE FUNDS FOR THIS PROJECT NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED, that the Lodi City Council does hereby authorize the City Manager to execute a professional services agreement with George Miers & Associates for Space Needs, Master Planning, and Schematic Design -of a New Animal Services Facility; and BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, that the Lodi City Council further authorizes the City Manager to execute contract change orders as needed for this project; and BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, that funds not to exceed $80,000.00 be appropriated from General Fund Capital for this contract.
