BACKGROUND INFORMATION: The City Council is being requested to approve Change Orders 10 through 16; and accept the completed improvements for Elm Street between Church Street and Sacramento Street. The original contract for this project was entered into by the City and Lodi City Center 12, LLC, in the amount of $1,160,139.04. To expedite the completion of the work, this amount was estimated based on preliminary architectural drawings. During the October 17, 2001 meeting, Council authorized Contract Change Orders 1 through 9 totaling $178,824.50, increasing the contract price to $1,338,963.54. During this meeting, staff advised Council the project was approximately 95% complete and to expect additional change orders totaling approximately $40,000.00. The project is now complete. Detailed below is a description of work for final Contract Change Orders 10 through 16 totaling $31,616.22. Including these Change Orders, the final contract amount is $1,370,579.76. The difference between the original contract amount and the final contract price is due to work not anticipated in the original contract estimate, such as additional electrical and traffic signal work, alley reconstruction, additional paver installation, and ancillary costs associated with underground utility conflicts.
