Furthermore, to authorize and appropriate $25,000. BACKGROUND INFORMATION: The City Council has approved funding for the Public Safety Building. Inclusive in those funds is the renovation of Fire Station #2. Fire Station #2, which is located at 705 E. Lodi Avenue, which first opened in 1981 has been utilized for over a half million staff hours. The facility was designed to adhere to local building standards and to fit aesthetically into the neighborhood with its metal - sided commercial style appearance. The daily business needs of the station are inclusive of; fire prevention, public education and training as well emergency responses to fire suppression, EMS and hazardous materials incidents. During this time it also doubles as living quarters for the line personnel. Over time the facility has incurred significant problems with leaking roofs, rodents and insects along with the normal wear and tear of a business office / house. Lodi Fire Department Staff along with our station design committee has examined the departments needs and recommends updating the facility to modern standards. This would include renovation of the existing structure, room for additional personnel and a training area to better serve our community. The remodel of this facility lays the groundwork for future renovation of the public safety building, which has been discussed by council prior. The City of Lodi recently utilized George Mier and Associates in the construction of Fire Station 44 and the same basic design and layout is desired for this facility.
