HomeMy WebLinkAboutAgenda Report - January 2, 2002 E-10AGENDA TITLE: Authorize City Manager to Issue Request for Proposals (RFP's) for Removal of Houses Located on Proposed New Police Facility Site MEETING DATE: January 2, 2002 PREPARED BY: Public Works Director RECOMMENDED ACTION: That the City Council authorize the City Manager to issue request for proposals (RFP's) for the removal of existing homes located on the new Police facility site. BACKGROUND INFORMATION: The construction of the new Police facility, to be located on the north side of the 200 and 300 blocks of West Elm Street, will require the removal of several City -owned houses. Several of the structures have been deemed "movable" by house -relocating companies. It is the City's desire to request proposals that would relocate these City -owned residences to other local properties, even though the City would relinquish ownership. Other homes and offices which are not movable will be demolished as part of the construction contract. The houses are located on the parcels comprising the new Police facility site: APN's 037-270-16, 037-270-17, and 043-022-10. We are requesting that City Council authorize the development of an RFP to cover the various structures that need to be removed. The RFP will describe the scope of work, requirements and deadlines, and request information related to the qualifications of the interested firms/proposers. We would expect to provide options for proposers to express interest in purchasing one or more houses. After proposals are received and evaluated, recommendations will be brought back to the City Council for consideration and award. FUNDING: Not applicable. Richard C.
