RECOMMENDED ACTION: This item is for information only. No action is required.
BACKGROUND INFORMATION: In accordance with the Contract Change Order Policy, the City Council is
being informed of change orders approved by the City Manager for this
project.
The original contract for this project was $1,628,369. The total cost of change orders to date is $28,964 (or
1.8%). The project is approximately 95% complete. Detailed below is a description of the work involved in the
change orders. More detailed descriptions and backup information for these change orders are available in the
Public Works Department.
Change Order No. 1 - This change order is for increased concrete footing work caused by
unforeseen weather conditions. ($3,058)
Change Order No. 2 - This change order is for concrete backfill at the main sewer trench under the
building due to its adjacency to the building footings. ($2,599)
Change Order No. 3 - This change order covers the cost of removing and replacing an existing
section of sidewalk between the two entry driveways. ($4,154)
Change Order No. 4 - This change order covers the cost of adding a fire alarm system to monitor
the building in case of fire while staff is out on a call. ($2,287)
Change Order No. 5 - This change order covers the cost of changing the clear glass at the
apparatus bay doors to a green tint to match the building glass. ($1,942)
Change Order No. 6 - This change order covers the cost of adding special coat and glove hangers
to the turnout storage lockers. ($399)
Change Order No. 7 - This change order covers the cost of changing the site storm drain grates
and frames from round to square so they will work with the curb placement. ($959)
Change Order No. 8 - This change order is to provide individual reading lights in each bedroom at
the twelve beds. ($2,071)
Change Order No. 9 - This change order covers the cost of miscellaneous framing changes
required to coordinate the installation of HVAC (heat and air conditioning) duct access doors and
roof drainpipes. ($3,204)
Change Order No. 10 - This change order is a credit for the deletion of TV mounting brackets and
changes to the landscaping work. ($181)
Change Order No. 11 - This change order is to cover the cost of code -required HVAC (heat and air
conditioning) ceiling duct access doors. ($554)

Change Order No. 12 - This change order covers the cost of adding a ceiling exhaust fan in the turnout
storage room. ($399)
Change Order No. 13 - This change order covers the cost of various electrical changes, including adding
switches, an exterior light fixture and ceiling fan. ($4,751)
Change Order No. 14 - This change order covers the cost of added building flashing and rerouting the
dryer vent pipe. ($492)
Change Order No. 15 - This change order covers the cost of changing the apparatus bay roll -up door
track and motor mounting to allow proper installation within the building. ($2,276)
FUNDING: There are sufficient funds budgeted in the Fire Station No. 4 Project account to cover these
fifteen change orders ($28,964). The total contract to date is $1,657,333.
