CITY OF LODI COUNCIL COMMUNICATION
AGENDA TITLE: Adopt a resolution awarding the bid for 20,000 feet of #2/0 15kV
XLPE underground electrical conductor to the low bidder, Western
States Electric, Portland, OR ($20,941.00) (EUD)

RECOMMENDED ACTION: That the City Council adopt a resolution awarding the bid for the
purchase of 20,000 feet of #2/0 15kV XLPE concentric neutral
primary underground conductor to the low bidder, Western States
Electric Company of Portland, OR, in the amount of $20,941.00.
BACKGROUND INFORMATION: On November 7, 2001, the City Council approved specifications
and authorized advertisement for bids for this conductor.
Five bids were received, and opened on December 5, 2001:

The Electric Utility Department estimators have issued work orders that would require a total of
17,000 feet of #2/0 15kV XLPE concentric neutral conductor to be installed at the following new
developments: Arcadia Place, Tienda Place, and Century Meadows 1 Unit 2 The balance of the
order will be placed into inventory for emergency stock.

A RESOLUTION OF THE LODI CITY COUNCIL
AWARDING THE BID FOR THE PURCHASE OF 15kV
XLPE PRIMARY UNDERGROUND CONDUCTOR
WHEREAS, in answer to notice duly published in accordance with law and the order of
this City Council, sealed bids were received and publicly opened on December 5, 2001, at 11:00
a.m. for the purchase of 20,000 feet of #2/0 15kV XLPE primary underground conductor,
described in the specifications, therefore approved by the City Council on November 7, 2001;
and
WHEREAS, said bids have been compared, checked, and tabulated and a report thereof
filed with the City Manager as shown as follows:

WHEREAS, the City Manager recommends award of the bid for the purchase of 20,000
feet of #2/0 15kV XLPE primary underground conductor, to Western States Electric, of Portland,
OR.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the Lodi City Council that the award of the
bid for the purchase of 20,000 feet of #2/0 15kV XLPE primary underground conductor, be and
the same is hereby awarded to the lowest bidder, Western States Electric, of Portland, OR, in
the amount of $20,941.00.
