BACKGROUND INFORMATION: This project will provide a centrally -located CNG fueling facility, upgrade existing gasoline and diesel dispensers, install a fuel card system, and upgrade bus, heavy-duty truck, and light-duty vehicle parking. The City will see reduced fuel costs for its CNG buses, trucks and cars. The City should expect to pay about $.75 per gallon for CNG. We will also explore the possibility of providing a public fueling point. The City Council previously approved $446,800 in expenditures for the design and CNG equipment for this fueling station. The requested appropriation for construction of $230,600 brings the total cost to $677,400; the original estimate for the entire project was $660,000. The $17,400 over the original estimate is due to higher than anticipated construction costs. Plans and specifications for this project were approved on September 5, 2001.
