RECOMMENDED ACTION: Approve the use of a City of Lodi GrapeLine bus to transport
members of the Lodi City Council, Lodi Arts Commission, and the Lodi Arts Foundation to the opening of
COPIA, The American Center for Wine, Food and the Arts in Napa, and the Napa Opera House.
BACKGROUND INFORMATION: The arts community has been involved and followed the creation of
COPIA as the world's leading cultural center dedicated to the discovery, understanding, and celebration of
wine, food, and the arts. This $50 million facility will open on the weekend of November 18"'', 2001 and
includes interactive exhibits, cooking demonstrations, speakers, and entertainment.
Further, the Napa community and specifically director of the newly created Napa Opera House has visited the
Hutchins Street Square project and will host the group in the afternoon at their new location on Main Street.
Members of the City Council, the Arts Commission and the Arts Foundation will be attending.
