AGENDA TITLE: Purchase of Cab and Chassis with Van Body for Fire Depart-
ment's Hazardous Materials Response Vehicle ($24,855.69)

RECOMMENDED ACTION: That the City Council adopt the attached resolution awarding
the bid for the purchase of one 1995 GMC 14,100# GVWR
Commercial Cab and Chassis with van body to the low bidder,
Plummer Pontiac/Cadillac/GMC of Lodi, in the amount of
$24,855.69, and approve a change in vehicle color from white to red and white.
BACKGROUND INFORMATION: On February 25, 1994, the City received from the State De-
partment of Toxic Substances Control an offer of funding,
to a maximum of $35,000, for the purchase of an emergency
response vehicle and related equipment.
On May 4, the City Council approved specifications and authorized advertisement for bids.
Although the City requested prices for an alternative -fuel (CNG) vehicle, none of the bidders
submitted an offer. The following proposals for a gasoline -powered vehicle were received and
opened on August 31:
Plummer PontiadCadillac/GMC, Lodi $24,855.69
Lasher Auto Center, Woodland $26,387.98
Chase Chevrok-t, Stockton $26,502.23
Upon receipt of the vehicle (about 120 days after placement of the order), the City will solicit bids to
outfit the van for Haz-mat response duty.
FUNDING: Provided by the State of California Department of Toxic
Substances Control in Sacramento ($35,000 maximum for filly
equipped vehicle).

AWARDING THE BID FOR PURCHASE OF ONE 1995 GMC 14,
100# GVWR COMMERCIAL CAB AND CHASSIS WITH VAN BODY FOR FIRE
DEPARTMENT'S HAZARDOUS MATERIALS RESPONSE VEHICLE

WHEREAS, in answer to notice duly published in accordance with
law and the order of this City Council, sealed bids were received and
publicly opened on August 31, 1994 at 11:00 a.m. for the bid for
purchase of One 1995 GHC 14, 100# GVWR Commercial Cab and Chassis with
Van Body for the Fire Department's Hazardous Materials Response
Vehicle, described in the specifications therefor approved by the City
Council on May 4, 1994; and
WHEREAS, said bids have been compared, checked, and tabulated and
a report thereof filed with the City Manager as follows:

WHEREAS, the City Manager recommends that award of the bid for
purchase of One 1995 GMC 14, 100# GVWR Commercial Cab and Chassis with
Van Body for the Fire Department's Hazardous Materials Response Vehicle
be made to the low bidder, Plummer Pontiac/Cadillac/GMC of Lodi,
California; and
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the Lodi City Council that
award of bid for purchase of One 1995 GMC 14, 100# GVWR Commercial Cab
and Chassis with Van Body for the Fire Department's Hazardous Materials
Response Vehicle be and the same is hereby awarded to Plummer
Pontiac/Cadillac/GMC of Lodi, California, the low bidder, in the amount
of $24,855.69.

adopted by the City Council of the City of Lodi in a regular meeting
held October 5, 1994 by the following vote:
