COUNCIL COMMUNICATION
AGENDA TITLE: Contract Award for Municipal Service Center Electric Utility Building Modification/Expansion
($221,000)
MEETING DATE: September 15, 1994

RECOMMENDED ACTION: That the City Council adopt the attached resolution awarding the contract for the
above project to Wall Construction of Modesto in the amount of $221,000 and
appropriate an additional $42,000 from the Electric Utility Fund to complete the
project and provide'for roof replacement. Funds are available from balances of
other dosed projects.
BACKGROUND INFORMATION: This project consists of the expansion and modification of the
Electric Utility Building to provide new office and storage spaces and
remodel existing facilities at 1331 South Ham Lane.
Plans and specifications were approved on August 17, 1994. The City received five bids for this project:

Altemate A is to provide a single -ply roof system, in lieu of built-up roofing, over all new roof areas and over
existing built-up roof systems. It is staffs recommendation that this alternate be included in the contract award
because the existing roofs are in need of immediate replacement or major repair and we believe it will be more
cost effective to include that work at this
time rather than bid it separately.
Bid Altemate B is for a built-up roof system and is not necessary if Altemate A is selected.

AWARDING THE BID FOR MUNICIPAL SERVICE CENTER
ELECTRIC UTILITY BUILDING MODIFICATION/EXPANSION

WHEREAS, in answer to notice duly published in accordance with
law and the order of this City Council, sealed bids were received and
publicly opened on September 7, 1994 at 11:00 a.m. for the bid for
Municipal Service Center Electric utility Building
Modification/Expansion, described in the specifications therefor
approved by the City Council on August 17, 1994; and
WHEREAS, said bids have been compared, checked, and tabulated and
a report thereof filed with the City Manager as follows:

WHEREAS, the City Manager recommends that award of the bid for
Municipal Service Center Electric Utility Building
Modification/Expansion be made to the low bidder, Wall Construction of
Modesto, California;
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the Lodi City Ccuncil that
award of bid for Municipal Service Center Electric Utility Building
Modification/Expansion be and the same is hereby awarded to Wall
Construction of Modesto, California, the low bidder, in the amount of
$221,000; and
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that $42,000 be appropriated from the
Electric Utility Fund to complete the project and provide for roof
replacement.
