CITY OF LODI COUNCIL COMMUNICATION
AGENDA TITLE: Contract Award for Lodi Avenue Wastewater Pipe Replacement, 200 Feet East of
Crescent Avenue to Hutchins Street ($6.025)
MEETING DATE: August 17, 1994
PREPARED BY: Public Works Director
RECOMMENDED ACTION: That the City Council adopt!- attached resolution awarding the contract for the
above project to Jardin Pipeline, Inc. of Castro Valley in the amount of $65.025.00.
BACKGROUND INFORMATION: This project consists of replacing approximately 925 linear feet of 84nch
wastewater pipe and abandoning the existing pipeline. The existing pipeline,
installed prior to 1950. is a combination of Gay and concrete pipes. The clay
pipe is broken and the concrete pipe has been weakened and broken due to
the corrosive nature of sewage. The concrete pipe section, no longer necessary to the operation of the system,
will be filled with concrete and abandoned in place. Due to the shailow depth of this line, the specifications require
the new wastewater pipe to be either extra -strength PVC plastic or ductile iron pipe.
The westbound lanes of Lodi Avenue will be closed and traffic will be restricted to one lane in each direction in the
south half of the street during the periods of construction. Rerouting of traffic will only occur where the contractor
is working and not over the entire limits of the project. All four traffic lanes will be reopened to traffic at the end of
each work day.
Plans and specifications for this project were approved on July 6, 1994. The City received the following six gids
