CITY OF LODI
AGENDA TITLE: Youth Commission Wet'n Wild
MEETING DATE: July 6, 1994
COUNCIL COMMUNICATION
PREPARED BY: Charlene J. Lange, Community Center Director
RECOMMENDED ACTION: None.
BACKGROUND INFORMATION: The newest City appointed commission created by your
Council is the YOUTH COMMISSION, and its members have challenged our area teens to join in
a day at the lake called, "Wet 'n Wild".
With a cooperative effort from the Lodi Unified School District, local churches and community
youth groups, the City of Lodi and adult volunteers, teens are invited to participate in a myriad of
activities on Saturday, August 6, 1994 at Lodi Lake on Turner Road.
Beach music will be blaring - there is no mercy to the faint hearted -- volleyball games, jet ski
demonstrations, performance by a nationally ranked barefoot skier, a bike ramp jump into the lake
and an ice diving contest.
The effort is on action and the day would not be complete without a Bath Tub Regatta! General
Mills is lending their technical expertise with mathematical calculations and a twist that all floating
devices must include boxes from their organization. Engineer Joe Sanguinetti will lead the charge
and assist all entries in the competition. General Mills is offering cash awards for the first three
placings of tubs that actually make it across the lake and over the finish line without sinking and
additional awards will be presented for the Judges Choice and Most Original Tub.
Admission is 55.00 per teen with high school ID and that will include a hot dog and soda in
addition to the activities.
This is truly a community event and one that we expect will garner great participation from all our
area youth. We invite each City Councilman to participate in the day and enjoy our teens.
FUNDING: None.
