Mclennan Attorney at law RECEIVED 4 1:. 13 P11 3• TO: THE STATE OF CALIFORNIA ATTORNEY GENERAL, DEPARTMENT OF GENERAL SERVICES, COUNTY AND CITY OFFICIALS AND INTERESTED PARTIES Pacific Gas and Electric Company (PG&E) filed Application No. 94-04-002 on April 1, 1994, with the California Public Utilities Commission (CPUC or Commission) requesting authority to increase its rates for electric services and no increase for gas services. PG&E seeks authority to increase its electric rates by two percent on January 1, 1995. At current forecasted sales levels, this two percent increase would result in an electric revenue increase of $157.4 million. PG&E's proposal limits the requested change by deferring cost recovery of a portion of its estimated Energy Cost Adjustment Clause (ECAC) balance on December 31, 1994 beyond 1995 by including only partial amortization of the estimated undercollection in the ECAC revenue requirement The Commission will hold hearings on the proposed increase. Parties at those hearings may offer proposals to the CPUC which differ substantially from those requested by the utility. After considering all proposals presented during the formal hearing process, the Commission will issue a decision. The actual rates and revenue requirement adopted by the Commission may differ significantly from PG&E'S original request and may result in an increase or decrease in rates. If you wish to participate in the hearings or need advice, please write to the Public Advisor, California Public Utilities Commission at 505 Van Ness Avenue, Room 5303, San Francisco, CA 94102. Inquiries about the date, time, and place of hearing on the Application may be directed to the Public Advisor. A copy of the Application and related exhibits may also be examined at the Commission, as well as the offices of Pacific Gas and Electric Company, 77 Beale Street, Room 3120, San Francisco, CA 94105; or at PG&E's Regional Offices in Fresno, Oakland, Sacramen- to, or San Jose. If you desire a copy of the Application and related exhibits, please write me at the above mailing address and mention you are writing about Application No. 94-04-002.
